Windows 8 Browser Not Working 3,6/5 3142 reviews

My 8.1 workstation at home is not loading the browsers. The following has occurred:1. Replaced FIOS with Comcast router on Saturday between noon and 2:30.2. Around 1:30, in the logs, my anti-virus stopped updating (Sophos) on the Windows 8.1 machine.3. Windows 7, Iphone, Android, all working on internet with new network SSID.4. Verified in command prompt that I can ping various web pages, and it resolves DNS. I tried Google and Hotmail.

Everything looks good.5. Tried to static the DNS servers. Changed it to 8.8.8.86. Disabled Windows Firewall, and no difference.7. Reset the TCP/IP stack with the netsh commands for winsock, ipv4 and ipv6, then did a restart after each first time, then did all three with a restart. No difference.

Don't know if there is another way of doing this.7. Tried running Spybot S&D but can't get updates.8. Went back to restore point from awhile back. No difference.9.

Reset the machine back to original settings with out wiping files yet. No difference.10. Guy at work suggested updating Adobe Flash.will try tonight.11. Also downloaded Microsoft Security Essentials Offline to boot it up with tonight.Any suggestions or thoughts?

Either I hate Windows 8 or Comcast doesn't play well with it? Do you have internet when you go into Safe Mode with Networking? I've seen occasions where something borks with the firewall on an AV client and network traffic goes haywire. Rolling back often won't fix this type of problem as it's not a system problem, but an AV problem and not included in restore points.Second, if that fails, try the winsock reset procedures. Running from a command prompt the following command sequence usually clears up issues not related to the AV.Ipconfig /flushdnsnbtstat -rnbtstat -rrnetsh int ip resetnetsh winsock reset catalognetsh winsock resetYou can also try the Microsoft FixIT tool from here . You could try safemode with networking and see what you get.

Reverting to a restore point and switching routers should fix most issues. Proxy settings would be wiped out that way.Another one, does this happen on both the wireless and wired connection (if it has both)? It could be a hardware issue although unlikely since you can ping.Beyond those ideas, I would say it's almost time for a fresh install. You might try calling your ISP first and see if they can see an issue. You've done the hard work, but maybe they have something blocked or there is a fault on their end. I checked the proxy settings and nothing is turned on.

The browsers opens and the web page won't load. Sits there and clocks until if fails with a web page won't load. I tried the IP address of the web sites and that didn't work either. It's like something is blocking the browsers.

Windows

We did reload the machine and it is back to 8.0, so I'm not sure how to get the updates if I can't connect to the internet. I did want to grab a long cable at work today and hook it up to the ethernet port and see if we have the same issue. Well went home last night and I'm told it started happening again. He left the error message up this time and it said DNS quit working. I rebooted and the web pages aren't loading again (just clocks), I can't run apps that access the internet, but I can ping and resolve to addresses in command prompt.

I probably need to check for malware and try the ethernet connection and bypass wifi. Do you think it could be the adapter is going bad? It was late at night and I told him I'd check it out later (we only 4 computers in the house).

This is the only one Windows 8 and only one giving us trouble. This happens to me continually.

It gets fixed, lasts about two weeks, then it's back at it. Will not let me open any browser, IE, Google, Firefox. But it will open the Google App for the browser on the metro tile page.I have a big hole in the back yard, and I am ready to drop Windows 8.1 into the black whole.I have scanned daily for viruses, malware etc, comes up fairly clean.

I have had three different virus programs, Norton 360, Trend Micro, and now Kasperky. Took the lap top to other servers & providers, same damn problem, which eliminates the obvious router issues(?).Frustrated. Very low tech in knowledge. Ready to say screw it!

I have internet access, but browsers will not work. I have windows 8.1 on an hp envy.

I have tried restore points (those come up as bad points) and i have tried resetting the winsock and ip's. I have allowed firefox, IE, and chrome in my firewalls, all to no avail. I have successfully pinged my router and 8.8.8.8. I cannot ping www.google.com.

I have ran scans at the command prompt, but have found that unsuccessful. Any new ideas to try?I am on a wireless router (2Wire) and all the other devices and computers in the house work fine. The problem began after my computer froze and i rebooted. I can see my computer on the home network and i can use programs such as skype and garry's mod.Thank you in advance for your assistance. Okay what happens when you WIRED into the router? Can you access the Internet then?

Store not working windows 8

Remove any firewalls (you don't need any firewalls when at home on your own network), and try Chrome again? Any luck?If still no luck and you can't get ANY HTTP access (Garry's Mod and Skype are on a different 'PORT' type then port 80 - HTTP), then most likely there is a bug on the computer. Remove any antivirus you have, and on a separate computer download from www.filehippo.com AVG or AVATS! AND then download Malwarebytes, and install on the Envy.

Scan FULL and see if they can clean any of it off. YOU MAY need to just suck it up and run the full SYSTEM RECOVERY back to factory and start over again. @OP: In order for each application to 'communicate' over a network, there needs to be some sort of traffic control, because otherwise your Youtube video would be sent instead of your email instead of your file down or instead of connecting to the Database system. So there are 65000 PORTS, each port is assigned one type of traffic. Garry's Mod and Skype don't use the 'Web Page' port which is Port 80. When you get email it was Port 119 and so on.

So if there is a problem with your internet connection ALL ports would be effected. As there is ONLY the Web Port your getting redirected (the idea of the Malware and Proxy) that any request over Port 80 FAILS.At this point this is a software issue, probably some sort of malware. As your system is 'compromised' you can't salaveg your data off unless you will reinfect after all the work to rebuild and just be back tyo square one.At this point I would HIGHLY suggest downloading DBAN from a second computer, make CD, wipe this computer drive, and reinstall Windows clean. @OP: In order for each application to 'communicate' over a network, there needs to be some sort of traffic control, because otherwise your Youtube video would be sent instead of your email instead of your file down or instead of connecting to the Database system.

Noblet saxophone serial numbers. After hours of researching and beating my head against the wall, i stopped working on the problem for a day. All the help kept mentioning a virus so i rechecked webroot's quarantine file. Low and behold, there were numerous files quarantined which reference registry keys and winsock2.I googled this info, on another computer of course, and the panda security website popped up with info on the spabot.as virus.

Internet Browser Not Working Windows 8

All the files in my webroot quarantine parallel the files that spabot.as creates. My question: the panda security website had a removal/fix tool. In order to use it, do i need to restore the infected files from webroot and use panda's tool or? Kinda on unfamiliar ground here. Thanks for all the assistance.

Keyboard Not Working Windows 8

Honestly I don't trust webroot, and seen a similiar instance of such 'software' do these things before. I personally check these links that are independent labs that test all the AV systems out there, and these are the ones I would trust (based of course on how well they work), and you can see webroot isn't among them. I have had a few people come to me with similiar circumstances (like yours) where some 'software' they got off the Internet Advertisement they followed as low cost AV, and like your instance sometime later are all fragged up.IMHO My steps would be as follows;1) Restore the files from Webroot2) Remove Webroot3) Reboot and test if you can get online, if so then pick up Panda's Free Cloud AV or grab AVG or AVAST from www.filehippo.com and download Malwarebytes. Have both Malwarebyes and which ever of the AVs you got do a full scan.IF you still can't get online, any attempts to 'recover' will 'spread' the viruses/malware (if they aren't already on any thumb / ext drives you have) so your only hope is a clean reinstall as I mentioned.
